This work describes a novel device that connect living cells with organic neuromorphic materials. We were able to demonstrate a memory effect based on the neurotransmitter dopamine released by cells. Yoeri was elected as one of the 2019 MIT Technology Review innovators under 35 Europe for the BIOMORPHIC project. In this project we aim to develop smart lab-on-chips to classify cells using hardware-based AI.
During the Materials Technology (MaTe) event and poster contest, Setareh Kazemzadeh has won the best poster award. She had to defend her poster during a 2 minute brief presentation. Next to eternal fame she also won a cash prize.

Yoeri was installed as a new member of the Eindhoven Young Academy of Engineering on September 18 in the presence of the rector prof. Frank Baaijens. The membership is for 5 years during which challenges – both scientifically as well as in society – will be discussed.
